Dr. Amanda
Walter:
Dr Amanda Walter originally hails
from Long Island, but spent the majority of her formative years
in north Florida. Like Drs Solomon and Schwartz, she graduated
from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in
2002, and remained in Florida until the fall of 2007 when she
joined the Center for Veterinary Care. During her years in
Florida working as an emergency and critical care veterinarian,
she developed her skills working with a variety of species:
dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, small rodents (rats &
mice) and reptiles such as snakes and developed a wonderful
rapport with clients as ‘the other family doctor.’ When she
moved to NY, she became involved with the
Alliance for Safety for Animals and People, an organization
that helps victims of domestic violence and their pets find
shelter for both two and four legged family members. Outside of
her life as a veterinarian, Dr Walter enjoys photography,
hiking, exploring NYC, and spending time with her own furry
family members: an Irish Wolfhound mix, Kayla and a lab mix,
Otis and her three cats.
